Julie’s 50th Birthday Bash – Event Photography
Julie’s 50th Birthday Bash – Event Photography
Last week I was privileged to be asked to do the photography for Julie’s 50th birthday party. The added bonus of this special birthday party was Martin Stephenson and the Daintees were the main attraction. Martin Stephenson and the Daintees were a very popular band in the student scene during the mid 80’s – early 90’s. The actual party was an open air event so I was working with natural daylight and strobe camera flash through the day and night. The joy of this type of photography is all the different faces and poses, there is always something different going on. The problem you have is always keeping an eye on everything and hoping to catch the most important bits.. My brief was pretty open as it goes but I kind of knew who to keep in the shots. The difficulty was when the natural light began to fade and you need to keep an eye on the ISO and F-stop so the photographs are as sharp as can be. Hey, sometimes a bit blurry movement adds to the feel of the photograph. So the night was a success and everyone had an excellent day/night. Here are a selection of the day’s photographs, I hope you like them 🙂
