Family Portrait Photography

Family Portrait Photography.

Last week I spent some time with the extended family of a previous client of mine. The brief this time was to get some family portraits of the family, mam and dad with the two boys. Then I had to try and get some of the two boys with their cousin who I have previously photographed with his mam and dad. Now it all sounds simple but this turned into a bit of a task. The three boys as you can see are of the age where they weren’t too bothered about getting a nice family photograph for their grandparents Christmas present (shhh). We had some fun trying to get the all important “money shot” but we did also get some great photographs in trying to do so.

I set up my portable studio at my clients house, which doesn’t take too long to do, then we got to work. I photographed Danielle, Duncan with the two boys as a family in different posses, well more like however the boys were going to let us get some photographs. A special thank you to Danielle, Duncan and Vicky for helping me to get the boys to look the right way and smile, it would have been hard to do with out them. I guess this is why I think home studio photography works best as you (the client) are in your environment making it easier to relax and for children they have their toys which they feel easier with. I took some photographs of the family together then with the two boys and their cousin, this is where it got a little bit difficult as the attentions were moving away from having their photograph taken,  fortunately the parents were at hand to help and keep them on track as best we could. I tried a few photographs outside but the sun was high and very bright casting unwanted harsh shadows.
